Description
Originally designed by William Morris in 1874, Willow began as a hand block printed wallpaper showcasing his signature appreciation for natural forms. Willow Stripe Rose features delicately intertwined willow leaves, in a light cream tone, flowing gracefully upward in a rhythmic, organic pattern, upon a dusty rose background.
In 1877, William Morris reimagined the design as a woven silk using hand-loom jacquard techniques, producing it in multiple colourways. Today, the Gallery’s collection preserves Willow in several of these variations, celebrating its enduring elegance. Printed on high quality non-woven paper, this wallpaper adds a sense of calm sophistication while maintaining the intricacy of the original motif.
