Description
William Morris designed African Marigold in 1876. The pattern features small marigolds with larger stylised lilies and curling ribbons of acanthus leaves. Morris's working process is revealed in the original design drawing, where alterations and rubbed-out lines are visible. Morris drew, revised and finally coloured a pattern on a single sheet of paper, believing that a harmonious piece of work should be done in one attempt. The original design is in the William Morris Gallery's collection as well as 23 original printing blocks. Immerse yourself into an oasis of tranqulity through this mesmerising Morris design.
